The collection includes interviews with 23 workers at Snibston and Whitwick collieries and subjects covered include work at the coal face, work with particular machines, surveying, work in the stores, the engine shed, the canteen, office work, work culture, relations with management, strikes, and mining galas. The aim of this Oral History project was to enhance the Snibston museum’s interpretation of the mining machinery, potentially including sound clips in front of the objects. The Oral History collection includes tape recordings and transcripts of interviews with both owners and workers employed in the linen industry across the province.
